New lifts planned in the West Arlberg ski area

Neue Liftanlagen in Zürs am Arlberg

3 new lifts at once – Zürs Trittkopf cable carZürs and Stuben Albona/Alpe Rauz practice lifts are currently planned in the West Arlberg ski area and are already being tested at the Bludenz district commission. Current implementation is foreseeable in 2013/14
Weibermahd lift - Lech am Arlberg - under construction!

Zürs Trittkopf cable car

In the course of renewing the "ancient" Trittkopf cable car at Zürs am Arlberg, the idea of a direct cable car connection to the East Arlberg ski area - St. Christophe/St. Anton was again revisited.
The Zürs Trittkopf cable car should have a middle station, from where a gondola lift (below the Trittkopf and above the Flexen Gallery) then leads directly to Valfagehr lift - Alpe Rauz. This would in effect be a connection (without the use of buses) to Stuben, to Albona and to the East Arlberg ski area. However, no new pistes are planned.

Zürs practice lift

The almost "nostalgic" two-seater chair lift has served well but now we look forward to a new, high-capacity lift in the centre of Zürs am Arlberg! The practice lift is the easiest and most comfortable connection to Hexenboden and Seekopf lift. With the latter, one can get to Zug and Lech am Arlberg via Madloch.

Stuben Albona/Alpe Rauz lifts

The Stuberner Seilbahn GmbH is also planning a renovation of Albona lifts I + II.
The old Albona lift I directly from Stuben has been the source of discontent for our ski enthusiasts at Arlberg. The slow two-seater chairlift is the only connection from Stuben to Albona and the rest of the Arlberg ski area.

Albona lift II of Alpe Rauz/Valfagehr is still planned on the Albonasattel. With it, Albona – up to now an insider tip, will be connected to the Arlberg.

Weibermahd lift - 8-seater chairlift + 10-seater cable car

The only - currently already under construction - cable car project is at Lech am Arlberg, the Weibermahd lift. It will be a highly-modern combination of 8-seater chairlift and 10-person gondola, which should already be in operation this coming winter season 2011/12.

This is the cornerstone of the ski connection Lech am Arlberg - Schröcken/Warth. Currently, it is like the above-mentioned projects still in testing but, according to Arlberg insiders – this will come before the Zürs - Stuben/Alpe Rauz connection.

We at Hotel Guggis in Zürs very much welcome the plans for the cable cars and hope for their implementation for our ski enthusiasts at Arlberg.

Best regards,
